Have You Heard

Have you heard?
Is what they say
Have you heard the trouble
That has come someone’s way?

Oh yes, I’ve heard
I’ve heard it all before
And I’m not listening
To it anymore

I will not listen
Nor participate
In the gossip you spread
Or the ways you hate

For I’m called to love
My neighbor as myself
To lend a hand and support
Above all else

To be my Jesus’
Hands and feet
To walk beside others
In their times of need

Not to condemn
Or to criticize
Not to reject
Or to ostracize

Not to push others
To the ground
But to lift them up
When they’ve fallen down

To show them God’s
Light and His truth
His grace and kindness
And mercy too

To show them there
Is more to life
Than all this toil
And pain and strife

To show them there
Is a better way
Something more
To live for today

To show them Jesus
As I’ve been shown
A love like none
That I’ve ever known

He’ll whisper music
In your ears
It’s the sweetest sound
You will ever hear

And when you hear
His song for you
You heart’s desire
Will be His too

So when they ask
Have you heard?
I’ll say yes
Yes, I’ve heard

I’ve heard the call
From my Lord above
And instead of gossip
I will spread His love
