Mother's Day
Purpose Poems

When Mother’s Day Is Hard

For the mom you never knew
Or with whom times were too few
The mom who wasn’t there for you

The mom whose life was way too short
Who too soon left this world
And left your heart longing for more

The mom who loved you your life long
Whose daily presence now is gone
Whose passing left a void so strong

The mom who has a child that strayed
And chose to go another way
For whom she hurts and daily prays

The mom whose child has suffered so
With whom she’s walked a painful road
And carried such a heavy load

The mom who’s lived her worst nightmare
And lost a child within her care
No other grief that can compare

The one who’s never been a mom
Who had held out hope for so long
But now that dream is gone

In all this and other things
Mother’s Day can leave a sting
But Someone sees your suffering

He’s seen every tear you’ve cried
In Him all things you can confide
He will never leave your side

Just lean back on His chest
Give Him your hurts and distress
In Jesus your soul will find rest
